No Rumor: Former President Pranab Mukherjee breathes his last at 84




Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, lovingly called by all, Pranab Da died, his son Abhijit Mukherjee has confirmed. He was 84.

“With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You,” Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted.

Earlier on Monday morning, the condition of the former President had declined. He was in septic shock due to a lung infection that he developed last week, the Army’s Research and Referral (R&R) hospital had said.

“There is a decline in the medical condition of Pranab Mukherjee since yesterday. He is in septic shock due to his lung infection and is being managed by team of specialists. He continues to be in deep coma and on ventilator support,” R&R hospital said in the statement.

President Mukherjee was ill for long time and his death was rumoured in mid August. RIP messages for him had also started making rounds on Social Media. Then, his son had intervened and condemned the news.

“My Father Shri Pranab Mukherjee is still alive & haemodynamically stable! Speculations & fake news being circulated by reputed Journalists on social media clearly reflects that Media in India has become a factory of Fake News,” he had tweeted.

Pranab Da, one of the most senior Congressmen had served as 13th president of India from 2012 to 2017.
