
It is second murder of politicians of a particular party in Bihar since the formation of Nitish government with a new alliance with the BJP led NDA. An RJD politician and Ward Councillor from Danapur Municipal Corporation Ward No. 15 was shot dead at Saguna Mor Area, 5 kms away from the state capital and few metres away from Danapur Cantonment on Thursday morning. Kedar Nath was supposedly a close aide of RJD veteran Lalu Prasad Yadav.
According to police sources, the crime is an act of some sharpshooter.
Relatives of the deceased in a conversation with “The Morning Chronicle” told that Rai was in the know of threat to his life and he had intimated the administration about it and asked for police protection however his demand was neglected and no protection was allowed.
Kedar Rai was taken to a nearby hospital after he was seriously injured with bullets but doctors declared him brought dead. After news of his murder spread in the locality, hundreds of localites gathered and shouted slogans against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and demanded for immediate arrest of the culprits.
Ten days back, another RJD youth leader Minhaj Khan was shot dead at his house in Siwan the early morning when he was asleep. Khan was District General Secretary of RJD Youth Morcha and supposedly close to former RJD MP, Mohammad Shahabuddin.
“People are fearful about their safety since the formation of new government,” an RJD local politician said.
Talking to a news agency, Lalu Prasad termed it as a political murder and said the big guns are involved in this murder.
