The media have started downplaying the message conveyed in the video linking Sirisha Rao with Aam Aadmi Party. However, Sirisha Rao is the wife of an army officer and she does not claim that she is the wife of wing commander in the video as manipulated by some media houses to clearly downplay the message.
In a viral video that is making the rounds on social media including WhatsApp, wife of an army officer, Sirisha Rao who seems aggrieved with the way the sacrifice of our soldiers is being politicised by political parties especially the BJP that is in power asks the politicians to stop politicising the sacrifice of Indian soldiers.
In the video, Sirisha Rao is saying: “Hello everyone. I am wife of any army officer. On behalf of all the families of all the armed forces, I request my fellow indians, especially the political leaders, the political leaders not to politicise the sacrifice of our soldiers. It takes so much to be a soldier. And just imagine the kind of tension, the kind of pain family of Abhinandan is going through right now. So please till the time tension is eased at Indo Pak border stop your political rallies and donot you dare I am repeating again donot you dare to snatch away the credit of our soldiers . Please, please stop counting your tickets and stop doing your politics here, please. You have enough time to play your politics but not at this time and not at the cost of our soldiers’ sacrifice. It is my humble request to all the political leaders especially BJP political leaders.”
Since the Pulwama terror attack, many BJP leaders have found rejoicing the war situation between India and Pak. In spite of tense situation on borders, BJP has been organising rallies and inaugural functions to politicise the issue.
Gujarat BJP leader and party spokesperson Bharat Pandya had exhorted party workers to turn the “nationalistic wave in the country” in the wake of Pulwama attack that left 40 CRPF men dead into “votes”. Speaking at the party’s booth-level meeting in Vadodara city, Pandya had said, “The attack that happened in Jammu & Kashmir….you must have seen the visuals. Keeping all differences aside, people have come together with a sentiment of nationalism. People have have shown their love for the country through rallies and agitations. When terror attacks had happened in Mumbai during the Manmohan Singh government, what kind of an environment was it then? What kind of issues were being raised in the Parliament? The discussions were about that if local people, who were aiding terrorists, were being investigated and arrested by security agencies… But the situation is very different today. Numerous actions have already been taken in the wake of the (Pulwama) attack. Citizens of the country are awake late in the night to see what actions are being taken against Pakistan. This is the sentiment in the country right now. The entire nation has stood together in unity with the feeling of nationalism, and it is our responsibility to convert this unity into a united vote.”
Former Karnataka chef minister BS Yeddyurappa did the same thing. Speaking to reporters prior to attending a meet of the BJP party workers in Davangree and Chitradurga, Former Karnataka chef minister BS Yeddyurappa had said, “The assault on Pakistan will prove to be decisive for our victory across the country with the Modi wave catching fervour among the youngsters ce;ebrating the atatck on the neighbourng state and avenging the 44 CRPF Jawans killed in Pulwama. I am certain that in Karnakata also we will be able to pull off at least 22 seats after yesterday’s attack and today morning’s effort in bringing fown the Pakistan airplane at the border.”
