‘I Had Quit UP Government but BJP did not accept my Resignation’: SBSP Chief OP Rajbhar




Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, a vocal ally of the BJP claimed on Monday, 6 May, that he had resigned from the Yogi Adityanath government long back but the BJP wanted me to contest on its symbol which I was not ready for and the party even did not accept my resignation.

“Had resigned on 13th night from post of state min; when they (BJP) said that you contest on our symbol, I told them we’ll fight on our symbol & that we’ll fight on 1 seat. But they didn’t agree to that either. Didn’t accept resignation; have filed a complaint with EC,” ANI quoted Rajbhar as saying.

Rajbhar is a member of the 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. Since 2017, he has represented the Zahoorabad and is a member of the SBSP.

On 19 March 2017, Rajbhar became a cabinet minister in the Yogi Adityanath ministry as the minister of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare and the Department of Disabled People development.

Om Prakash rajbhar represents a backward community (BHAR/Rajbhar) which constitute 20% population of Purvanchal. Rajbhar is second politically dominating community after yadvas in Purvanchal.
