PMO denies information on expenses of Modi and Manmohan foreign trips, reasons query too vague and wide




The PMO has denied releasing information on expenses of Modi and his previous counterpart Manmohan Singh’s foreign visits. Nutan Thakru, the RTI activist has filed an RTI to the PMO and asked for the said information.
According to the reports, as of July 2017, Modi has travelled six continents and 49 countries including UN General Assemble in the US in his three years prime ministerial tenure. The trips include three times to France, Germany and Russia.
RTI activist, Thakur had asked for details of the expenses incurred on various arrangements made for all the foreign trips made by Modi and Manmohan Singh from January 2010 onwards.
According to the IANS, a news agency, Nutan Thakur has received a reply from Central Public Information Office and under secretary Parween Kumar, denying the information on the ground that the information asked is too vague and wide.
Along with the reason cited for not providing the information, the PMO has asked the activist to consult the appellate authority who currently is Syed Ekram Rizwi, Director PMO, South Block in case she wants to go for an appeal for the same. “I would definitely go to the authority”, she told to the agency.
Nutan Thakur is wife of the 1992 Batch IPS officer Amitabh Thakur. She is a BJP worker according to her Twitter handle.
